Description
Job Overview
The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, and close processes. This position will also assist the Finance Department as needed and respond to information requests by members of management and third parties (i.e., auditors, vendors, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the management and performance of the monthly close
Posts of journal entries and preparations of B/S account reconciliation
Proactively identifies and communicates general ledger and accounting related issues
Researches and follows up on reconciling items found during reconciliation process
Preparation and maintenance of various schedules
Supports both accounts payable and account receivable activities
Fully understands the P&L to scrub each month end, and makes GL coding updates and identifies/corrects the base issues
Updates existing SOPs and develop new SOPs as needed in a timely manner
Assists in special projects, ad hoc reporting, and analysis
Identifies, proposes, and assists in the implementation of business process improvements
Develops nonstandard reports and statements
Assists in procuring information for the annual audit
Cross trains in various accounting functions
Solves business problems, investigate, and seeks out cost savings opportunities for the organization
Within the limits of delegated responsibility, makes day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions
Provides financial analysis, planning and budget control
SKILLS
Understanding of revenue recognition
Accounting policies and GAAP
Month end close and B/S reconciliation experience
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
Working knowledge of US GAAP
Strong general accounting skills
Preferred - Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics – Business Central or similar accounting system

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
EXPERIENCE – Minimum 3-5 Years in a Staff Accountant position
