Requirements

  • *8+ years of networking experience

  • *Experience managing data center networks
  • *Experience with network monitoring platforms
  • *Ability to work 8:30am - 5:30pm CST shift
  • *Flexibility for after hours and weekend work
  • *Ability to work on call rotation

Description

Job Summary: As a Senior Network Engineer, you will bring your expertise with Cisco, Juniper, and next generation firewall technologies to the position. You will manage performance and availability of Abacus data center networks across the US and participate in improvement projects. You will be part of a team tasked with maintaining a very level of availability and performance for data center services. You will also be a point of escalation for support incidents that affect multiple clients. Further, you will serve as a technical lead for internal and client projects, participating in client network builds. Responsibilities: Diagnose and resolve complex issues quickly, proactively identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions. Support and maintain network backbone infrastructure involving multiple data centers and geographic regions based on dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and various mediums (DIA, PTP, VPN, multi-gig connectivity, cross-connects) Work independently to lead medium sized client engagements involving equipment deployment, network design, or refresh tasks. Provide escalation support for incidents involving client offices, Abacus data centers, public cloud networks (Azure and AWS), and remote access (VPN, Citrix, etc.). Support and maintain NGFW firewall configurations with the ability to troubleshoot data center and client environments. Work directly with high profile clients to provide solutions that meet their needs, and account for critical dependencies to ensure seamless and effective resolution to problems. Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with internal Abacus teams to provide solutions and escalation support. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Abacus and client infrastructure, processes, and procedures. Stay abreast of the latest technological trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, security, and efficiency. Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members to develop their skills. Skills: Strong experience deploying and managing Juniper hardware including SRX and EX platforms. Strong experience deploying and managing Cisco hardware including ISR, ASR, Nexus, and Catalyst platforms. Strong experience supporting NGFW solutions from Palo Alto, FortiNet, and Cisco. A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking concepts. Excellent LAN/WAN fault diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, including in-depth knowledge of Spanning Tree, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, VPN, IPSEC, QoS, NATs and ACLs. Experience managing datacentre networks, preferrable in a multi-tenant MSP environment. Ability to maintain network performance, identify issues and recommend solutions. Experience with office network design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Experience leading client engagements with an ability to suggest innovative solutions. Expertise leading technical projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, and to the client’s satisfaction including gathering requirements, planning, execution and post-implementation review. Experience with network monitoring platforms. Solid understanding of virtualization and network integration with VMware infrastructure. Experience maintaining network solutions based on Azure’s platform preferred. Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements. Ability to effectively prioritize when faced with multiple tasks. Strong and detailed documentation, interpersonal, and communications skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge. Ability to work with and be a part of collaborative team environment.
